Nutritional TherapyUnique from other types of nutrition support, nutritional therapy embodies both time-tested ancestral dietary wisdom as well as the innate wisdom of your own body. Its foundation is built on culinary traditions around the world that produce generations of healthy children. Bio-feedback tools and functional lab testing then identify specific imbalances in your body and lingual-neural testing determines what nutrients can support them, tailoring a nutrition plan just for YOU.

Your Mouth is the Window into your Health

Dental-Ortho-Diet ConnectionWhile dental decay and crowding are common today, they are not in fact "normal". Facial and jaw development are determined by the nutrients we absorb in utero and early childhood. The strength of the jaw muscles and the sturdiness of our teeth and gums continue to be influenced by the nutrients we support them with throughout our lives. Weak, improperly functioning jaws may also then create structural issues that further impact the absorption of oxygen and other nutrients. Deficiencies that lead to orthodontic and dental issues have many other consequences throughout the body and our mouth provides an important early warning sign. Our smile can tell us a lot about our overall health, if we pay attention. The mouth, however, is also key to addressing these underlying imbalances and deficiencies that impact the teeth, gums, jaw, and the whole body. Eating a nutrient dense food diet supports your overall wellness and lets your naturally beautiful smile shine.

My StoryAs a child, my orthodontist told me I had the narrowest jaw she had ever seen. My teeth were yellow, crooked, and crowded. Four of my adult teeth were removed in preparation for retraction head gear that drew my jaw inward, against the force of biology. Then the chronic pain began, along with new diagnoses each year including scoliosis, asthma, eczema, osteopenia, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, IBS, bruxism, carpal tunnel syndrome, and Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I was told that these various conditions were unrelated, and many were unexplainable and untreatable.
Years later, as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, however, I was face to face with a community with minimal issues of dental crowding, despite almost no orthodontic care, and free of many of the other conditions I had experienced at such an early age. It was there that I discovered my root cause of poor diet, which had impaired my jaw development as a child. I learned that my childhood jaw issues were further exacerbated by orthodontics that had retracted my jaw backwards, creating cranial instability and then scoliosis as my spine curved to support the imbalanced weight of my head. While the orthodontics had made my front teeth appear “straight,” my jaw and body twisted as a result and the root cause of issue was never addressed. After having exhausted all conventional methods for treatment, which only made me worse, I turned to nutritional therapy and the innate wisdom of my body. Nutritional therapy combined with acupuncture and cranial sacral therapy have allowed my body to heal from what no doctors had been able to address. I am committed to helping others avoid the unnecessary suffering that I experienced and to supporting the dental and orthodontic fields with a root cause approach that helps people builds beautiful smiles from the inside out. |
